"[Body Core] is one of the best things I have done for myself in years." – Emily, 2026 class participant
Body Core is an hour-long group fitness class with a unique focus on functional core-building, balance, and flexibility training in the context of a judgment-free, energetic, welcoming environment. With an emphasis on breath awareness and developing individually appropriate fitness goals, this class takes its inspiration from a variety of body-conscious movement practices.
Body Core is packed with exercises that alternate between different core muscle groups in support of endurance development and well-rounded muscle training. Far from being a class with a singular focus on just the abdominals, we also work the lower and upper back, the shoulders and chest, deep muscle groups like the psoas, and more. Of course, the abs will be a focus — no doubt!
Dynamic, Inclusive, Encouraging
We work on challenging ourselves in ways that acknowledge where are body is at today through the use of dynamic challenge levels that include multiple options that students self-select into with instructor guidance.
We are not here to compare ourselves to others or to past versions of ourselves, but rather we are committed to listening to our body's feedback about what it needs today and how best we can provide the challenge that is of greatest benefit to each of us.
Modifications are provided throughout in support of diverse bodies and fitness backgrounds. We acknowledge that our bodies are dynamic and have differing needs and capacities from day to day, class to class, and in support of this and with instructor guidance, students opt into their own challenge levels for different class exercises.
Who is Body Core Intended for?
Body Core is a group fitness class for adults who are interested in a well-rounded workout focused on endurance, strength, flexibility, and balance. Body Core is challenging without being overly intense. Body Core is designed with the idea that challenge and sustainable practice are conducive goals.
Body Core was developed to support a variety of fitness goals and backgrounds by providing a moderate intensity workout suited to those who are just getting back into a regular workout routine, those who are looking to cross-train, and those who are interested in a unique, well-rounded group fitness offering.
